Mr. Lowell is a well-known geologist who has consulted for approximately 110 U.S. and foreign mining and engineering companies and governments on such issues as geological, exploration, mine design and grade control problems. As chairman of the board and a founder of Arequipa Resources Ltd, he managed the exploration program that discovered the Pierina deposit in Peru, creating value for Arequipa shareholders by selling the discovery to Barrick Gold Corporation for over $1.1 billion(Canadian) Mr. Lowell has participated in 10 major feasibility studies, as well as managed contract exploration projects that discovered the Kalamazoo and Casa Grande West ore bodies in the U.S. and La Escondida. Zaldivar and san Cristobal ore bodies in Chile. Mr. Lowell was also a member of the discovery teams for Vekol Hills, Arizona; JA ore body, British Columbia; Dizon and FSE-Lepanto, Philippines; and Leonor, Chile Mr. Lowell is the recipient of many awards recognizing his contributions to the mining industry including the Mining and Metallurgical Society of America Gold Medal award 2001; the 2000 Robert Earl McConnell Award; the 2000 Robert Dreyer Award and the Northern Miner Canadian Mining Man of the Year Award 1999. In 1998 he was awarded a doctor honoris causa"degree from Univ NM de San Marcos, Peru, and in 1994 was elected to the American Mining Hall of Fame and in February 1999, to the National Academy of Engineering.
