Maximum Likelihood Method for the Qualitative- quantitativelnheritance of Endosperm Traits and Its Application in the Genetic Analysis for Amylose Content in Indica Rice Xu Chenwu,Mo Huidong.Ao Yan (Department of Agronomy.Yangzhou University.Yangzhou 225009) Abstract:The paper proposed a maximum likelihood method for the qualitative- quantitative inheritance of endosperm traits,which included qualitative-quantitative genetic model test,effect and variation estimation of major gene and polygenes.The analysing procedure was demonstrated with F:and F,endosperm generations and used to investigate the qualitative-quantitative inheritance of amylose content(abbreviated to AC)in three indica rice crosses.The results showed that Ac is a typical endosperm qualitative- quantitative trait controlled by a major gene as well as polygenes.The major gene for high AC,low AC and waxy is a group of multialleles.The allele for high AC is approximately complete dominant to that for low AC and waxy.Genetic variation caused by polygenes is about from one quarter to one half of the genetic variation of the major gene in different crosses.
