Unit Seven: A Sunrise on the Veld Teaching objectives: To make students be aware of the boy's arrogance:he is on the brink of adulthood and feels powerful To help students understand what kind of realities the boy has come to understand To make students understand the change of the character's outlook To analyze the writer's techniques for developing the general idea To supply students with opportunities to practice their basic language skills. Time allocation and Teaching procedure About 4 sessions(8 class hours)are needed for this unit. 1st session 1.Pre-reading questions: Test students on the background reading material. Give students the brief summary of the opening of the story. Ask students to explain the meaning of"veld".
