To help students better understand the general methods of editorial writing and the characteristics of the writer's style To make students understand what a parallelism is and when it is used Time Allocation and Teaching Procedure: About 4 sessions (8 class hours)are needed for this unit. 1st session 1.Pre-reading questions: Test students on the background reading materials and see if they have a general idea of Text I and ask students to fill in the blanks with relevant information. 2.Study of Text I: Ask students to decide which is the topic sentence,what are the events narrated and what is the writer's viewpoint,and see how the writer relates his view to the event in his narration.
