Apart from bulk ceramics, protective SiC coatings were applied by means of EPD on top of CFC substrates. A modification of porous green bodies could be achieved by electrophoretic impregnation, where nano￾sized particles were deposited within the pore channels of meso-porous green bodies. Thus, a homogeneous or graded densification can be achieved and composites with graded composition can be produced. The gradi￾ent can be tailored by adjusting the process parameters.
