54 A content analysis of cigarette as props in Soldier Sortie Zhou Peiqin Cigarette is a special symbolic commodity. While the extent and form of tobacco advertis ing has been supervised and restricted, movies and Tv dramas have gradually become lia for tobacco marketing. This research focuses on the symbolic image of cig- anette on screen with the content analysis of the TV series Soldiers Sortie. The result re- veals that the images of both smokers and smoking behavior are presented positively in this series.
