Deficiencies in human nature, as a consequence of its frequent deviation from Taos attributes, constitute the true motivation for mansun derstanding and interpretation of Tao. In fact, the ultimate goal of Zho uyi hermeneutics is to make evident the complicated interactions of the three talents( Sancai). The meanings of Tao are definite, clear and ab- stract. But paradoxically, Tao is indefinite in that it exhi bits diversity and changeability in reality, which provides interpreters with vast, infinite space for interpreting and co gnition. Hence, "priority of adapta- tion to changes and"allo wance for differences in views. Based on these two principles, this article dis cusses the three turns of Yizhuan in its interpretation of Zhouyi: the first, from divination to morals; the second, from script explanation to interp retain concerning general meaning; and the third, from symbol- based instrumental interpretation to the interpretation concerning cosmic meanings and concept ual interpre- tation.
