Objectives ➢ Phonetics - Stress, Intonation and Accent ➢ To get some training on learning strategies (1) listen for specific information: understanding what you need and catching them — telephone numbers, addresses, time and date (2) note-taking: note down the key words (3) Memory-focus training: make a list of keywords to bring back memories (4) autonomous learning: finish the self-learning tasks with the help of subtitles & scripts ➢ To expand students knowledge about the budget & life style Ⅲ. Contents Section One Tactics for listening Part 1 Phonetics - Stress, Intonation and Accent Part 2 Prediction and Inference Section Two Listening Comprehension Dialogue 1 Budget Part 1 Dialogues Dialogue 2 Dating Passage 1 Changes in the Way We Live Part 2 Passages Passage 2 Brain Drain Part 3 News - News Item 1, 2, 3 Section Three Oral Work - Retelling Ⅳ. Learning tasks ( emphases / difficulties ) & Teaching procedures Task 1: Vocabulary & Warming-up discussions  Content: Some students will give short introductions on the budget & life style / Phonetics - Stress, Intonation and Accent (Pay special attention to the registration form information)  Time allocation: 20’-30’  Activities: (1) A quick tour of “Learning Aids”, explaining some new words, expressions and culture notes (2) Warm-up activities: ask students to list everything they can think of related to the budget & life style in five minutes and share their lists with their partners
