The Effect of Video Acceleration on Subtitled-Video-Based Learning Wang yidan School of Foreign Languages, Jiangsu Second Normal University, Nanjing 211200, China Abstract: As an integration of dynamic pictures, spoken dialogue and written text, and against he background of pictorial turn and the support of multimedia learning theory, the subtitled video is widely used in both traditional and online classrooms. It has been recognized as an era-oriented teach- ing tool and valuable resource for acquiring language skills. Speed-changing is a very popular and widely used audio and video processing technology This research introduces innovatively video accel eration into subtitled video teaching, and analyzes empirically the effect of video acceleration on subti tled-video-based learning through the learners' academic performance and satisfaction survey. the the subtitled video is played at the speed of 1. 2 on the learning effect and meanwhile, most subjects are satisfied with and interested in the video accel eration method, and realize that video acceleration is important for enhancing learning efficiency.
