Electrochemical deposition of poly aniline coating on the surface of stainless steel (SS) plate is expected to further improve the corrosion resistance of stainless steel bipolar plate, and replace traditional graphite bipolar plate in proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). In the working condition of PEMFC, the bipolar plate is required to have electrical conductivity in the working temperature between 70 and 100 C. It is necessary to investigate the electrical conductivity and thermal stability of the polyaniline film. a conductive polyaniline coating was prepared on the surface of 316 L SS bipolar plate in a bath containing 0. 2 mol/L. sulfuric acid and 0. I mol/L. anline using cyclic voltammetry technique. The chemical structure of synthetic polyaniline thin film was studied by infrared spectrascopy(IR), the electrical conductivity of the coating was tested by four-probe technique, the thermal stability was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TG), and the surface morphologies were observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM).
