The Yangtze Basin is the biggest rapeseed-producing area in the world, where rape- seed and wheat are the main winter crops and compete wit h each other for cultivated land resources. Based on a theoretical analysis on competition mechanism of rapeseed and wheat, this paper elaborated the inter nal relationship s among the influencing factors of cultivated land competition and made a thorough anal ysis of the two crops competition relationship with field survey data and results. It shows that the main factors nfluencing cultivated land competition incl ude yield per unit, purchasing price, level of mechanization, labo ness, and as the rural labor costs increase, the level of rapeseedproducing mechanization becomes an impor- tant influencing factor of production benefit.
