Dongguan, 523000) Abstract: In terms of the high cost of rail transit systems, Transit Oriented Development(TOD) seems to cities in China a potential for funding urban rail transit infrastructure. However, in many cities, TOD was considered or undertaken at a couple of stations rather than all stations along the lines considered on the whole. This paper takes the practice of Dongguan as a case study to give advice on overall TOD strategy of rail transit stations, based on funding requirements and land consolidation.
