The results are now of an excellent quality and the authors are to be congratulated on its scientific level There are two comments on the presentation 1. While quite readable the English needs improving in minor ways. E.g. p 3 I.4. should read"responses of the surrounding.... Other cases have been entered on the ms in pencil 2. The Discussion seems a bit disconnected. the authors should reread it and pay attention to the logical sequence and what they want to emphasize Points that i would like to see addressed are some discussion of the functional differences between bullfrog and mammalian retina in regard to the GABA transporters p 22 line 5. The idea that GAT-1 is neuronal is now incorrect. Can say that both GAT-1 and 2 contribute to currents p 23 Can one extend the present finding to all other non-mammalian vertebrates? pp. 23-24. The authors seem to imply that reversal for release, are the transporters most significant function. This seems likely only under pathological conditions
