Univ. , Guangzhou 510642 , China) Abstract :Ultrathin2layer isoelectric focusing of seed protein was used for varietal identification and genetic purity testing of hybrid maize , capsicum and rice. It was found that the F1 seeds of hybrid maize 8 ×9 and capsicum 1 ×3 had both of the male and female marker bands from parental lines , and were considered to be genuine hybrids. However , F1 seeds of hybrid maize (cv. Yueyou 1) and rice (cv. Huaguiyou 99) were found to be not genetically pure.
