Overview Classification Locusts grasshoppers. Chinese name:蚂蚱. Belong to Tetrigoidea(蚱总科)， Eumastacoidea(蜢总科)，Acridoidea-= Locustoidea(蝗总科)respectively in Acridodea=Locustodea(蝗亚目)， Orthoptera. *More than 10000 species recorded in world.About 1000 in China

Since the PRC establishment in 1949,A tactics that combined both the changing environments of locust areas and spraying insecticides,was carried out.So locust disasters have been basically deleted since the 1950's.This was one of the greatest achievements in history of the integrated pest management in China and known by all over the world

In Africa,the last serious widespread plague of Locusta m.migratorioides occurred from 1928 to 1942.Since then, environmental transformations have made the development of swarms from the migratory locust unlikely.However,the desert locust which is very similar to the African migratory locust remains a major threat

Almost every year since 1988 locust disasters have occurred.20-30,or 100 locusts found in 1 M2.In severe cases 3300 found.The most abundant case had 25000 which was located in the damp locust area in Shijiazhuang,Hebei
