Research on Ethical Issues Caused by Genetically Modified Technology:Targeting at Genetically Modified Crops WU Yifan (School of Design,Shanghai Jiao Tong University,Shanghai 200240,China) Abstruct:Genetically modified technology has been controversial since it came out at the end of the twentieth century,and its large-scale application has caused widespread controversy among people all over the world.Based on the ethical principles involved in the birth,cultivation and promotion of genetically modified crops,this paper studies the ethical issues of genetically modified crops.In the process of genetically modified crops'birth,based on the principles of respecting nature and fairness,we should think about how to practice the principle of resp ecting nature,discuss whether the genetically modified crops should be patented or not,and conclude that genetically modified crops are not suitable for patentab ility.We suggest that we should choose to increase investment to encourage rese archers or improve the patentability of genetically modified crops.The threshold of patent application for genetically modified crops and other methods.In the pl anting process of genetically modified crops,the precautionary principle is taken as the basis,and the ethical basis of ecological security is emphasized.Based on the principles of non-harm,benevolence and autonomy,this paper puts forward the characteristics of genetically modified crop derivatives in the commercializatio n of genetically modified crop derivatives,and urges researchers,governments an d the public to be cautious about the commercialization of genetically modified crop derivatives.
