This course includes translation and interpretation.They complement and deepen each other.Both are guided theoretically by "An Overview of Interpretation",focus mainly on "A Training Course",and test accordingly by"The Model Test".Their respective overview is designed to help students understand the subject from a theoretical perspective,briefing them on the nature,characteristics,criteria,process,classification of interpretation, difficulties in it,and interpreter qualification requirements;As the main body of the course, "A Training Course"is comprised of eight topics discussing the interpreting skills of different styles of speeches respectively including interpreting conversations,interviews, ceremonial speeches,informative speeches,persuasive speeches,academic speeches. business speeches,and popular science speeches with the interpreting materials for practice covering such wide variety of fields and aspects as foreign reception,business meetings. ceremonial speeches,conference speaking.publicity presentation,visiting tours,interview. academic study,scientific reports,food culture,economic reform,economic and trade cooperation,etc.The content of translation mainly includes the study and translation of some articles in various fields,such as country,education and literature.Each unit adds some translation techniques of words and sentences,and analysis of their grammatical structures or functions."Test"serves as a testing part for assessing the effects of teaching by introducing to students the requirements and forms of Intermediate Interpretation and Translation Test,offering them several model test papers and training for the future examination English-Chinese Translation is a course of applied research and practical application.
