Are the performers fluent in their lines? 2)Watch and brainstorm video: Excerpt from movie The Pursuit of happiness, job interview scene a. Play the movie clip b. Ask students to report on the give and take that took place in the interview, c. Ask students to talk in pairs about the following questions Suppose you are taking a job interview. How do you demonstrate to the interviewer that you have good work ethics? Can you relate the characteristics to your personal experiences? O Recommended sentence pattern for describing characters am a.. person/I am willing to.. /I am ready to .. / You will find me ./ I specialize in../IamⅹⅩ- oriented 3)Mock interview(pair work) Purpose: to train abilities to do job-related descriptions and interaction Scenario: Student A is shortlisted as a candidate for a certain position in the Outdoor Club/ Collegiate News Agency/ Stray Cats Shelter Organization.. at university Student b is head of the association Now Student b interviews student a and decide whether he/she gets the positio a. They both believe this can help fellow students while making some money. Now they have a discussion on starting up such a studio Ste a. Ask students to pair up and complete the conversation; b Pick two to three pairs to report on the plan they made c. The instructor and other students give comments and suggestions for the plans 5)ATalk with Parents: taking a gap year(Group Work Purpose: to learn to negotiate in an informal setting Scenario: Student A is thinking about taking a gap year after graduation, to see the world and to know himselfherself Students B and c play the role of his/her parents who do not like the idea and who urge student a to find a job and start his/her adult life "like everybody else. The three of them will have a talk and see who get convinced Steps a. Group students into threes and ask them to have a conversation based on the following scenario b Students give peer review on the performance 6. Homework D)Pair work: Suppose you are an intern at an international consulting firm. You feel that your mentor at the firm has not been giving you the kind of instructions that you want. Frankly you think you are not learning anything useful but running office chores like photocopying. Talk with him/her about this in a polite, sincere and effective way 2)Students should read the two passages in"Part I Read and Think "from next unit
