They are expected to have a command of basic writing strategies. Translating: Students should be able to translate relatively long and complicated sentences from English into Chinese and vice versa. The translation should be generally accurate, free from serious mistakes in comprehension and expression. Recommended Vocabulary: Students should acquire a total of 2,500 words and 350 phrases (including those that are covered in the high school English course), among which about 1,000 are active words. IV. Practical Requirements Listening and Speaking Skills Level 2 (16 credit hours ) Listening: Students should be able to follow classroom instructions in English and take brief notes at the same time.
