Lecture 9 Writing the Acknowledgements Acknowledgements have a two fold purpose (1) to express the research scientists appreciation publicly to persons, groups or institutions that have provided assistance in performing and publishing the research 2) to make clear the scientific contributions that others have made to the research Acknowledgements should not only include published materials, but also the unpublished as well as assistance given orally However, we should refrain from making acknowledgements for trivial contributions such as the corrections of English of the text Ex. 1 This research was supported by a grant from the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
