《语言学导论》课程大纲 课程基本信息（Course Information） 课程编号 （Course ID） *学时 （Credit Hours） 32 *学分 （Credits） 2 *课程名称 （Course Name） 语言学导论 Introduction to Linguistics 先修课程 （Prerequisite Courses） 无 *课程简介 （Description） 本课程为英语专业本科生核心课程之一，在二年级上学期开设。旨在培养学生对人 类语言的理性认识，提高学生的语言文化意识、思辨能力，进一步提高学生用恰当语言 表达思想的能力。课程材料与讲授语言均为英语, 相关理论的例证以英语为主。 本门课程主要包括语言与语言学、语言学的基本分支和语言学的跨学科研究等方面 的内容。语言与语言学主要突出语言的甄别性特征、语言的功能和语言学基本概念；语 言学基本分支重点介绍：语音学、音系学、形态学、句法学、语义学、语用学等分支的 基本内容及研究方法，以及现代语言学主要流派的基本观点；语言学的跨学科研究简要 介绍语言与历史、语言与社会、语言与文化、第一语言习得、第二语言习得、语言与大 脑。课程教学的重点是有关语言学本体研究的部分，难点是各个章节中比较抽象的概念、 定义和语言学基本原理。 本课程要求学生每次课前精读教材及教师推荐的相关文字及视听材料，结合语言学 理论和原则观察生活及学习中鲜活生动的语言现象，提出至少一个经过思考的问题，提 交到课程微信群或网上教学平台（如雨课堂），教师将在课堂讲授中回答这些问题。在 课堂学习中鼓励学生随时提出疑问和质疑，教师会在适当时机插入课堂互动环节。课程 进行的后半段，每位同学须从教材中语言与历史、语言与社会、语言与文化等章节中选 取自己感兴趣的话题做十分左右的课堂展示，以上任务的完成计入平时成绩。 课程会适时结合现代语言学的语言观、各种语言学理论、原则的优势和不足以及语 言与文化的关系的理论等方面引导学生客观、科学地认识母语与中华文化与世界各民族 语言、文化的共性和差异，增强文化自信心和文化包容性。 *课程简介 （Description） Introduction to Linguistics is an obligatory course for English majors, available at the first semester for sophomores. The teaching language will be English，and reading materials are in English. Examples concerning relevant theories are largely from English. This course introduces basics of language study proper and the interdisciplinary knowledge between language and other research fields. This course covers the following topics: introduction to linguistics, phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, language change, language and society, language and culture, first language
acquisition, second language acquisition, language and mind etc. The major parts of this course are the chapters about language studies proper, and the difficult parts might be the abstract concepts, definitions, principles and theories in each chapter. The students will be required to preview the relevant chapters each time before going into the classroom, to raise and post onto the course Wechat group or other learning platform at least one in-depth question concerning the chapter to be covered on the basis of their observation of the daily language use (either from English, other second languages, or Chinese) ; and they are encouraged to participate in the classroom discussion in a variety of ways: asking for elaboration, doubting the current theories or principles, analyzing the facts about daily language use with the theories or principles at issue; the third task each of the student has to accomplish is to select from Chapters concerning language change, language and society, language and culture a topic which interests them to conduct a 10-minute presentation while attending classes after the branches of linguistics have been introduced. After taking the course, the students will get familiar with the basic theories, principles in linguistics, further their understanding of human languages and cultures, enhance their scientific awareness in linguistic studies, improve their scientific literacy, strengthen critical thinking skills and make their daily language use more effectively.
