Teaching Plan Teaching Content The first section of lesson Five Speech on Hitlers Invasion of the USSR Teaching objectives A. Enable students to become acquainted with the historical background of World war and winston churchills life career B Help students to obtain global information by means of comprehension questions on content and analyse the basic structure of the text. C Make students awaken to the essential theme of the speech: Longing for peace all over the world. Teaching Requirements A. Students are required to get familiar with the history of world War by looking through some materials before class and describe the authors important role on international political stage. B. Let students figure out the general idea of the whole text, the way Churchill constructed his speech and the rhetorical devices he employed in C. Ask students to give their opinions on the central topic: Peace. Teaching Approaches A. Arouse studentsenthusiaum to give brief descriptions first in order to cultivate their abilities into full play and then make a summary about their points of view. B Apply modern teaching methods by means of showing slides consisting of narration and precious historical photos from documentaries. Teaching Focal Points A. Brief account of historical material and relevant information about Winston churchill B.
