Teaching procedures Step one Introduction More and more like raising pets, such as dogs and cats, and some even feed some horrible pets like snakes and mice. 1.Play the tape recorder for the students and ask studentsto listen for the main idea. 2.Check the answers. 3.Emphasize some language points and sentence structures Make a big difference to:matter,play an effect on Step Three Macro-listening 1.Explain the new words and expressions (1)Mean a bad-tempered,nasty (2)newborn:a.very recently bor (3)abandon:v.to give up,leave alone (4)breast-feed v.to feed a baby mother's milk from the breas (5)replacement:thing or person taking the place of another (6)cub n.the baby ofa wild animal (7)occasion time when a particular event tkas place (8)puppy n.baby dog. (9)Adopt:v.to take (a baby,pet,etc.)in to one's family and raised\it as a member of the family (10)Naughty:not behaving properly (11)Play mother:play the role of a mother 2.Play the tape recorder for the students. 3.Ask the students some questions about the conversations. 4.Explain language and culture notes (1)..but he is not going to get one....but I'm not going to buy him one (meaning a snake or an alligator) (2)...Balu to play mother to...A dog named Balu plays the role of a mother to the baby tigers,feeding them with her own milk 5.Ask the students to answer the questions in the book.Lead them to get the right answers and teach them some tips for the listening exercises. Step Four Oral Practice 1.Ask the students to make conversations,trying to use"as..as"structure. 2.Ask them to retell the story"Dog Plays'mother'to Tiger Cub"in their words

The basic meaning of"pet"is an animal we keep for emotional rather than economic reasons.A pet animal keeps us company and reduces our stress and loneliness.But pets offer us more than just companionship:they provide us the opportunity to love and be loved. Pets can calm us and bring us out of a funk when human words don't help. When pets depend onus for food and shelter,they make us feel needed and important. Keeping a pet around means young kids have the access to the more natural world in this"Plastic Age",and learning to care for a pet helps achild to grow into a loving adult who feels responsible for those who depend on them and towards the society that needs their contribution for a better world too. Animals can communicate with human beings.for they're quite sensitive to anger and sorrow

Pets and children often fight over care and love in the family.It'sridiculousand degrading to see children jealous of pets.And to make things worse.people nowadays are so crazy about pets that they even neglect caring for their own children. 3. A campaign should be launched by the government to put overpopulation of pets in urban area under contro Plus.the ever-growing number of pets has caused serious hygiene problem that cannot be solved in a short time 4 Pets are often humanized by those who keep pets.Owing to their need for a home.for food and drink,pets are tamed and idealized by their owners 5. Pet dogs and cats of both sexes should be sterilized because the animals themselves are in danger of becoming the first victims for the simple reason that their owners don't have enough time for too many of them. 6. Not all that keep pets are responsible,instead they often abandon their pets when they go away on holiday and are unable to take the pets along with them. 7. It's a shame that many animals eat much better food than some ofus human do. and we should use that money on the impoverished people in the under- developed countries. It's really against nature to cage birds,chain dogs and keep cats within the house
