It aims to guide students to master the basic methods of academic research, so as to cultivate their basic ability of conducting research in humanities and social science and the ability of academic writing. This course focuses on both theory and practice, and is lecture-oriented, combined with classroom discussion and project learning. It focuses on the following contents: introducing the concept, nature and characteristics of academic research, as well as academic ethics and norms; enabling students to learn how to effectively collect, screen, read, analyze and standardize the use of relevant academic literature; helping students to grasp the concept, nature, characteristics and classification of academic papers, explaining

the reasonable process of paper writing, mainly including paper topic selection, paper frame construction, thesis development, etc.; requiring students to study the basic research methods of humanities and social sciences, such as qualitative and quantitative methods, prescriptive and descriptive methods, corpus methods, etc., and study and discuss the application of these methods in English research.
