The course contains sixteen themes, which introduces many important issues of Britain. They include family, education, work, leisure, tourism, crime, legal system, religion, welfare, domestic economy, system of government, political parties, mass media, , history, international relations and foreign trade. Each chapter falls into three closely related sections: Section A (Exposition texts), Section B (Exploitation activities) and Section C (Extension tasks). Section A is the input section of the course, where students are given information about aspects of modern British society. In Section B, students are given the opportunity to reflect on and develop their understanding of their knowledge about Britain. The aim of Section C is to develop the students' interpretative abilities through utilizing the knowledge they possess. What’s more, a brief introduction to two Commonwealth countries – Australia and New Zealand – are also incorporated in the course and caters to students who might be particularly interested in these two countries.
