The course adheres to Marxism as the guide and teaches several topics in American studies in English. The goal of the course is to enable students to understand the basic conditions of American society such as American religion, media, tax reform, social division, etc.; the basic structure and operating mechanism of the American government and the American political system; American foreign policy adjustment, Sino-US relations, American strategy and other American studies and to form profound insights on the abovementioned themes. The main contents of the course include American religion, media, tax reform, social division, U.S. presidential power, U.S. foreign policy adjustment, Sino-U.S. relations, U.S. strategy, etc. The focus of this course is on American society and American foreign policy. The difficulty is to combine the special research of this course with the new changes and new problems of the contemporary international situation to make a basic judgment on the future development of Sino-US relations. This course is taught in the form of classroom lectures, literature readings and student
group reports.
