And this was confirmed by Miss Jane Smith,a staff in the Hotel, who also reported that she shut herself in her room until the next morning when she left, only mentioning that her car had broken down. After leaving the hotel, she must have gone to call someone she knows, probably her lover according to some witnesses reports, because she refused to accept Mr Brown's offer to give her a lift or call the local garage. At about 12, Mr Eric Gates saw her talking to a young man fixing her car on his way to his farm. And in the afternoon,Mr Richards saw them stop the car in the High Street and walk into the pub near his office.According to Mr Richards, the man was about thirty-two,well dressed and he had a gray hat on;they seemed to be very happy together
