Types of Home Gao Bin,a young Chinese engineer,has just arrived in accommodation n. He has worked out that the maximum rent he can afford to pay is ￡200 or ￡250 pounds a month, depending on whether or not he has to pay extra for gas, electricity etc... In other words, he can afford to pay ￡200 plus bills or ￡250 including bills. • Some of the advertisements (ads.) which Gao Bin looks at are printed below. As you will see, these advertisements typically use a lot of abbreviations (to save space--because it costs money to place an advertisement in a newspaper and the less space that's used, the cheaper it is!).
