Section #3: Questions #9 through #11 concern the allocation of funds and possible library services Q#9: The library prohibits departments from spending their annual firm order allowance on journals. The reason: journals with short runs are a relatively useless resource. To guarantee adequate runs, the library maint ains a separate journal budget. Should departments be allowed to spend their firm order allowance on journals instead of books? Q#10: The NMSU library subscribes to an electronic database called Current Contents This dat abase, compiled weekly, cont ains tit les and abstracts of articles from over 1000 journals. The NMsU librarians can create a custom profile of keyw ords for you (w ith your help), scan this database each week for these keyw ords, and send you a copy, via e-mail, of the flagged articles and abstrasts.
