Analytical Overview: Source: A medium resolution global dataset, Gridded Population of the World (CIESIN 1995) was used to calculate population density. The dataset was compiled from the latest available census data at a variety of sub-national district levels, standardized to 1994. The total number of people in each basin was calculated using a 5-minute population count grid.
