Aims of the course To introduce you to the many facets of the forage industry and to dispel the myth"it is just grass, and any one can grow it"!! A sound understanding of forage growth and physiology. and the effects of the environment on forage production, will be the basis for discussing the most effective way to manage forage production for a specific end use.In the laboratory you will learn how to recognize the most important forage species used in north of China, their geographic areas of adaptation, and the ways in which they are used within the industry. Forage is the backbone of animal husbandry. In this course ■▣RAG we will be concentrating on since we are limited in this course to 40 hrs of study College of animal science,Northwest Agriculture Forestry University 西北农林科技大学动物科技学院草业科学系

In this course we will be concentrating on since we are limited in this course to 40 hrs of study
At the end of the course you will be able to: Recognize and describe the major forage species used in north of China. Have a firm understanding of the annual growth cycles of grass and legume species, and how to manage them for optimum biomass and quality production Understand how perenniality is achieved in forage crops and how management decisions can enhance winter survival and stand longevity. Select suitable forage species for different end uses and soil types. Identify the key quality components(feeding value)of forage and the relationship between forage maturity and forage quality ■RAG Know the key components of successful forage establishment College of animal science,Northwest Agriculture Forestry University 西北农林科技大学动物科技学院草业科学系
