Genre and content: The genre of the text is an exposition.The context is about the education in the UK,which includes the schools,terms,stages and further study.In the following comparison between the education in the UK and in the China,readers can have a further understanding of the education Analysis of the in our motherland. teaching Theme material The major theme of the text is about education in other countries,which is also about the theme of Module 1 "Explorations and exchanges".We know getting to know more about other countries'education systems is a first step to be an exchange student. Structure: The exposition has a very clear line which talks about different expects of education in the UK in different paragraphs.From paragraph one to the last,it mentions the schools,terms,stages and further study of British education. Students are in Grade 9.They have background knowledge of the education in our motherland which helps them understand the education in the UK.In addition,they have already gained Analysis of the some linguistic knowledge for understanding the article in this lesson.They have already read students about the theme of exchange students in Grade 8 but they might have some difficulty in expressing their ideas in the discussion section. Based on the above analysis,according to the New National English Curriculum and the Core Competence,the Teaching aims of this class are as follows. By the end of the class,the students will be able to: Language Competence: Students can read the exposition about the education in the UK. Cultural Consciousness: Students have better understanding of the different culture in different countries and will have a sense of pride in Chinese culture. Teaching aims Thinking Quality: Students will be able to compare the education in different countries and express their idea about
