Based on the idea that the global history is a new historical concept and a new branch of world history research, this course focuses on teaching the concepts and characteristics of global history, its academic history and disciplinary history, and major research theoretical methods, important topics and representative studies of global history research, as well as the impacts of the rise and development of global history, on the premise of mutual support and understanding with the national state historical paradigm. The focus of the course learning is: to preliminarily understand the significant differences and interrelationships between global history as a specific research perspective and method and traditional historical research paradigms; understand the research topics focused by and their relationship to the basic vision and methods of global history. The main learning difficulties of the course include: the transformation of vision, that is, how to jump out of the framework of traditional historical research paradigms such as national history, and understand and investigate the development of human history in a connected and networked cross-cultural interactive thematic perspective and centered on people and human activities. On the basis of systematic knowledge teaching, the course will focus on and attach importance to the cultivation of students’ speculative ability, cultivate historical awareness and
