While Japanese government is still struggling to deal with its Fukushima nuclear disaster, many people begin to consider the dangerous consequences brought by the nuclear power. American people fear that the hazardous radiation would cross the Pacific; Germany has already put on hold its decision to extend the life of its nuclear plants; Chinese central government has decided to suspend approval for the construction of new nuclear facilities In spite of the severe nuclear crisis in Japan and Chernobyl, I still believe the best path for China to go along is reducing the demand for oil and resorting to nuclear energy or renewables China's oil dependency has become a more pressing concern. We import oil from the Middle East and North Africa, therefore, the unrest in those regions would cause great disruption to the global oil market as well as our countrys energy plan. Also, global warming has made people attach great importance to the reduction of greenhouse gases. All of those factors push us to shift energy consumption away from fossil fuels as soon as possible As a developing country, we are hungry for electricity, which is badly needed to power the ceaseless development. Nuclear power still has an abundance of advantages of offering reliable energy, ensuring the energy security, and no carbon dioxide emission. In order to ensure the best nuclear safety, we not only require exquisite planning and good engineering but also need governments which can produce accountability and transparency. The institutions and plants they build deserve trust from the public. With the policy of low-carbon economy, many governments in the world have included nuclear as part of their future energy mix However, we still need to calm down and draw some lessons from the Japans nuclear disaster Moreover, public opinion could also be an obstacle in the path of developing nuclear energy; therefore, our government should spare no effort to assure the public about the safety In terms of the risks of security of supply, cost and environmental damage, nuclear power remains to be a competent choice in the long term. It can satisfy people's need for greater energy efficiency and less pollution Comment: Your have proved your opinion right by listing several reasons from different perspectives, which is very convincing and effective. It is quite clear and logical GradeA
