The first part of the course follows art movements over the last 2000 years, the second part looks at Postmodernism, animation, graphic design, and art on film. The lectures will focus on examination of paintings, sculpture, architecture, and many other forms of art, so good listening skills and an interest in art are a basic requirement. Students do not have to know anything about art to take the course, but should appreciate and learn about the artworks as presented to them. Classes will be in English, although any important vocabulary will be given a Chinese translation. Grades will be earned through attendance, presentations (each student will give one short presentation), and an exam. Notes will be provided for each lecture in PDF form.
