Students will also be given a grounding in the theory underlying the principles and practice of interpreting. The course will provide students abundant practical materials in various forms, subjects and contents via multi-media platform. The difficulty lies in the culture difference, the different expressions between Chinese and English, students’ ability in switching between the two languages, and their integrative capacity in language skills. By the end of the course students will have learned basic skills of getting the message through listening, logical analysis, improving memory efficiency, professional interpreter’s notes system, coping tactics incomprehension, public speaking(vocal rendering and body language) and problem areas in interpreting figures.
